Kitchen Remodel

This whole project actually started back at the beginning of June. These pics were taken on 7/11. It is coming along, but slower than I anticipated, hard to get things done with Everett needing alot of our attention.

All but two of the cabinets are rehabs from my Mom and Jamie's old kitchen.I really didn't have to do anything to them, they were in great shape. I did have to make one cabinet shorter, I just took it apart, cut it down and put it back together.

These two base cabinets I had to have made, this whole section is new, this was just an open wall in the old kitchen. The tall cabinet with the two big openings is the old oven cabinet, I am putting the microwave in the top opening. Two sliding drawers and adding doors to the bottom opening.

I also added two recepticles to the wall, one for the microwave and one for the countertop.

I am adding undercabinet lights to the two cabinets on the right in the pic - Part of the new pantry

the base cabinets in the middle have been set, I still need to set everything else though.

We ordered the countertops on Thursday, should be here w/in 2 weeks, so I need to get everything set soon. We went with a preformed laminate, couldn't beat the price at Menard's.
Color is Milano Brown from Wilsonart.

Our old cabinets I sold on Craigslist for $300. The buyers were finishing their basement and needed some nice solid wood cabinets. This has been quite the recycling project. Overall our costs for the remodel are just short of $2500.
After the kitchen, although most likely not this year. I still want to remodel the full bath. Put on a new roof and siding. Oh, and build a deck.
We put new windows in last summer, at this point I should have just built a new house.
Tera and I didn't feel we had enough to do with a 7 month old baby, so we decided to demo our kitchen.
This is what the original floor looked like, ~20 year linoleum. That is the back of the original cabinets installed in '66.

Halfway through demo of the floor, which was top layer 1/4" plywood with linoleum.

underneath that was the original 1/2" particleboard with linoleum. This layer was all wonderbar and hammer for removal.
We also ripped out doors and trim, along with everything in the 1/2 bath that is right off of the kitchen, we are going to put 13" tile in there.

We glued and nailed down 1/2 CDX plywood on top of the 1/2" subfloor.

We put 20" tile on 45's. Started at 2:30pm finished at 10pm, we were about 5 tile short, I don't think I could have done those last 5 if we had the tile, I was whipped.

This was shortly after we did the grout and wiped it down a couple of times.
Terry and Venus helped us out alot with demo and watching Everett. Demo is not baby friendly.
My Mom and Jamie helped with the tile, Jamie cut and Mom helped out with wiping down the grout.
