Haircut and Wedding

We finally took Everett for his first haircut. He got to sit in a car and watch cartoons.
He was very good the whole time but kept trying to lean away from scissors. So Handsome! We went to the wedding of one of Dustin's friends from work. Everett had a great time but Dustin and I were a bit tired from all the busyness of the boy.
Relax...it's just sparkling cider.
It was a rainy day and Everett thought it was his mission to try and get past us and run outside to mud puddles. He succeeded only a couple of times.

Kingwood

I've taken Everett to Kingwood Center to walk around and explore. He seems to love it! Especially the fountains! I think he thinks they are big bath tubs and wants to splash. The best part is the long naps he take afterwards.

More pics

Everett likes his books but to eat. We have to watch because he will take bites out of them.

He likes to wrinkle his nose. He makes funny faces all the time.

He continues to help in the kitchen...which is probably why it isn't done yet.

We had a good time at the Richland County Fair this year. He saw lots of animals and interesting people, ate some fair food, and hung out with family.

9 month check-up

At Everett's 9 month check-up he was 30 inches (95%) and 24 lbs (92nd). It was very hard to keep him on the table. When asked if he was clapping his hand I said no not really, to which Everett started clapping his hands. He likes to prove me wrong.

First Walk

This is Everett's first walk by himself. This is from the end of July. By August he was walking with out the walker all over the house. Now he is practically running.

New Pics

Here are some pics over the past couple months.
At Grandma and Grandpa Sprang's 60th anniversary party.

First ice cream cone

First time swimming. I love the spiky hair!

Chug Chug Chug Chug!!!

Who needs toys, I have a bubba keg!!

Everett does his own stunts. He finds it funny to look between his legs.

We went to Ontario for Fireworks. We didn't know how he would take the loud sounds so we were in a field across the street. He tackled grandpa till the fireworks started. He sat on our laps and watched the lights the whole time. He seemed to really like it! We hope to go to the blueberry festival for some more fireworks.

Our little puppy dog. He likes to carry toys around in his mouth while crawling. How else to bring the toy with you?! He has also crawled over to the toy basket and pulled a toy out with his mouth. Don't know where he picks these thing up from.

This is from Gretchen and Randy's party when they came up from Texas. It was such a nice day to play outside and eat grass. Nathan had to tell Everett not to eat grass. Of course I forgot to get a picture with Gretchen and Randy.

Kitchen Remodel

This whole project actually started back at the beginning of June. These pics were taken on 7/11. It is coming along, but slower than I anticipated, hard to get things done with Everett needing alot of our attention.

All but two of the cabinets are rehabs from my Mom and Jamie's old kitchen.I really didn't have to do anything to them, they were in great shape. I did have to make one cabinet shorter, I just took it apart, cut it down and put it back together.

These two base cabinets I had to have made, this whole section is new, this was just an open wall in the old kitchen. The tall cabinet with the two big openings is the old oven cabinet, I am putting the microwave in the top opening. Two sliding drawers and adding doors to the bottom opening.

I also added two recepticles to the wall, one for the microwave and one for the countertop.

I am adding undercabinet lights to the two cabinets on the right in the pic - Part of the new pantry

the base cabinets in the middle have been set, I still need to set everything else though.

We ordered the countertops on Thursday, should be here w/in 2 weeks, so I need to get everything set soon. We went with a preformed laminate, couldn't beat the price at Menard's.
Color is Milano Brown from Wilsonart.

Our old cabinets I sold on Craigslist for $300. The buyers were finishing their basement and needed some nice solid wood cabinets. This has been quite the recycling project. Overall our costs for the remodel are just short of $2500.
After the kitchen, although most likely not this year. I still want to remodel the full bath. Put on a new roof and siding. Oh, and build a deck.
We put new windows in last summer, at this point I should have just built a new house.
Tera and I didn't feel we had enough to do with a 7 month old baby, so we decided to demo our kitchen.
This is what the original floor looked like, ~20 year linoleum. That is the back of the original cabinets installed in '66.

Halfway through demo of the floor, which was top layer 1/4" plywood with linoleum.

underneath that was the original 1/2" particleboard with linoleum. This layer was all wonderbar and hammer for removal.
We also ripped out doors and trim, along with everything in the 1/2 bath that is right off of the kitchen, we are going to put 13" tile in there.

We glued and nailed down 1/2 CDX plywood on top of the 1/2" subfloor.

We put 20" tile on 45's. Started at 2:30pm finished at 10pm, we were about 5 tile short, I don't think I could have done those last 5 if we had the tile, I was whipped.

This was shortly after we did the grout and wiped it down a couple of times.
Terry and Venus helped us out alot with demo and watching Everett. Demo is not baby friendly.
My Mom and Jamie helped with the tile, Jamie cut and Mom helped out with wiping down the grout.
